WORM Q&A

Our Company

Lil' Devil Worm Ranch is owned and operated in Martensville Saskatchewan.
We have been growing Red Worms (aka Eisenia Fetida or Red Wigglers) for 3 years now,
and we aren't afraid to get our hands dirty. We are proud to be in the 'POO' business!

Our Ranch

Welcome to Bin A, the first stage of Vermacomposting.
Most of our bins are made from old fences and barn wood. Our newer bins consist of OSB and 2x4's.
You can see how we have mixed the shredded paper, torn up cereal boxes with
grass clippings and other natural items for the worms bedding.
See complete instructions for creating your own bin on our 'Bin Guide' page.

This is Bin B, the second stage of Vermacomposting.
This is where we start to see the breakdown of all the items you see in Bin A,
now including worm food such as vegetables, fruits and more.

Here we are at Bin C we can already see a dramatic difference compared to Bin A.
Keep in mind that new food is being added daily. These worms just keep eating!

Meet Lyndia, the owner/operator of Lil' Devil Worm Ranch. Here she is at one of our drying tables.
By this stage, the worms have already been removed and placed in new bedded
bins to start their process all over again. To find out how to move your worms, please see 'Bin Guide'.
At the drying tables is where we lay the damp castings out to dry before shaking them out.

On the shaking table, the dry castings are placed in the green tub you see perched on top of the frame.
When the motor is turned on, the castings slowly shake out along the mesh separating the pure castings from
the bits of unprocessed paper, leaves and food etc.

The pure castings are then stored in bins until it is time to weigh and sort them into bags and sacks for sale.

Can you believe that in just a short time, Red Worms can transform Bin A contents into a rich, natural, nutritious product?

What amazing little creatures!
